چکیده

Performance aspects such as travel time, punctuality, and robustness are conflicting goals of utmost importance for railway transports. To successfully plan traffic, it is therefore important to strike a balance between planned times expected delays. In operations research, lot attention has been given construct models methods generate robust timetables—that is, timetables with the potential withstand design errors, incorrect data, minor everyday disturbances. Despite this, current state practice in planning manually, possibly support microsimulation evaluation. This paper aims narrow gap state-of-the-art optimization-based research approaches by combining simulation optimization. The proposes combined simulation-optimization approach double-track lines, which generalizes previous work allow full flexibility order trains including new more generic model predict By utilizing delay data from simulation, can make socioeconomically optimal modifications timetable minimizing predicted disutility—the weighted sum scheduled time total delay. large experiment on heavily congested Swedish Western Main Line, demonstrated that compared real-life, manually constructed timetable, reductions delays well improvements punctuality could be obtained small cost marginally longer times. in-vehicle mean was reduced 5% average, representing improvement highly utilized line. Furthermore, separate scaling indicates also suitable larger problems. Funding: funded Trafikverket [Grants TRV 2016/5090 2020/72690].

Fast Approaches to Robust Railway Timetabling

The Train Timetabling Problem (TTP) consists in finding a train schedule on a railway network that satisfies some operational constraints and maximizes a profit function which counts for the efficiency of the infrastructure usage. In practical cases, however, the maximization of the objective function is not enough and one calls for a robust solution that is capable of absorbing as much as poss...

Integrated planning for blood platelet production: a robust optimization approach

Perishability of blood products as well as uncertainty in demand amounts complicate the management of blood supply for blood centers. This paper addresses a mixed-integer linear programming model for blood platelets production planning while integrating the processes of blood collection as well as production/testing, inventory control and distribution. Whole blood-derived production methods for...

a study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns

attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...
